Why get involved?

There are lots of reasons to get involved in the BMQC, we have summarised just a few of them down below.

Awards

Although this competition is not all about the awards and it's mainly about the fun of competing and learning new things, check out the awards teachers and students can win here.

The experience

The BM Quizzing Championships is an unforgettable experience for students, teachers and the public at large. From a teachers point of view, this is an ideal opportunity to encourage students to learn new things for themselves, which are not restricted by a curriculum, building individuality. For students this is an amazing chance to show their quizzing potential and their power to get back up again even after getting an answer wrong (a quality which is vital for a good quizzer). Students enjoy experiencing the thrill of team spirit formulated by competitiveness- not forgetting enjoying that little bit of time out of school. This is an exiting, motivational opportunity for the academic students of Northern Ireland which gives them a chance to prove they have what it takes to become the best school quiz team in Northern Ireland.

Your cv or application form for university/college

The BM Quizzing Championships is a brilliant bit of extra-curricular activity to put on your CV or application form for college / university. It shows a real passion for learning and an ability to work as part of a team and also individually. It also really helps to build your confidence in public as you learn how to articulate your thoughts before submitting your answer to questions.

Teachers/ School

The rewards aren’t just confined to entrants. Teachers will see real, long-term benefits by getting involved. It’s a great way to get pupils inspired to learn new things and a brilliant way to showcase your school’s academic pedigree. It also helps to put the fun back into learning which can be viewed by many as boring.
