The rewards aren’t just confined to entrants! The Lauren Mooney Facilitating Teacher Award is to be presented to the teacher who represents the winning team. In recognition of their great organisation, work ethic and support for their students, ultimately leading to the teams success in the competition.

Teachers will also see real, long-term benefits for students, by getting involved. It’s a great way to inspire pupils to learn and a brilliant way to showcase your school’s academic pedigree.

Not sure how to start forming a team?

Forming a team can initially seem daunting but don't give up and leave it for another year! Forming the winning team is easier than it seems. Check out bellow for our top tips.

1. Try sending out a morning breifing message about the competition, so that form teachers can read it out to students and start getting the word out rapidly. It could read something like...

"Quiz club is excited to launch this year and already the search is underway for an official student team. The official quiz team, will be elected to represent the school through competing for a chance to win prizes in local and national quiz competitions this year. Places are limited so any student interested must speak to Mr Hamill asap. All students are encouraged to go for it!"

2. Display posters serveral posters around the school to remind students of the quiz. We have made a handy template which can be found here.

3. Talk to some students directly who you think could be strong candidates. Try asking them to sign up their friends and help spread the message. This allows you to alleviate some of the stress involved by allowing students to be individual.

4. Upload a post to your schools social media pages/ website. These can be seen by students and also parents alike.

What happens if more than four students are interested

Congratulations for drumming up the message about the competition. To select the best candidates we recommend using our sample materials which can be accessed by emailing info@bmquizzing.com and requesting a sample kit. This can also guide students and organisers on the difficulty of questions asked within the competition. These may be used in tryouts but are by no means essential. It is up to organisers entirely on how they choose to recruit team members,
